Strange But Surf…

That is the name of my band. I play under the stage name “Marbles Mahoney”. That name is a different subject all together. Strange But Surf has been playing since 2003. That is a long time to be doing anything, much less being in a band. I have played in other bands, but this one is the one that has lasted the longest and brought me the best success. We have endured many hurdles along the way, but somehow we manage to pick our selves up, dust our selves off and carry on. From overtly “Strange” members to Death itself, nothing has stopped us. Tomorrow night we have a show at a great place called Bartini’s in Babylon, NY on our home turf of Long Island. The Virus has hit our Island’s Social scene very hard and many places have stopped having Live entertainment. Many have just closed or turned into Restaurants, Laundromats or just left vacant. We like playing live, even if nobody shows up. We is what we do and what we play. We are a bit “Strange” being based on the East Coast of the US, by playing Surf Music. It is what we do and we do it pretty good. The B-52s must think so. They asked us to open for them. Twice. Above is pic of us at the Capitol Theatre in Portchester, NY a few years ago. We also opened for the at The Space In Westbury on Long Island. We are a Trio now and the music has taken another turn toward the strange side of things. We put our on own spin on many Surf and non Surf Rock standards that it becomes our own genre. As a result, I have never played such cool music with the best musicians I have ever been on stage with. It is an Art that the now, 3 of us are dedicated to and I invite you all to come witness and hear this thing we call Strange But Surf. The show starts around 9PM. The battle in my head between Art & Music continues. Stay strange my friends…

Carry On… @ngelo aka Marbles Mahoney
